I have fallen in love with having my photos put on canvas. I have lots of art and esp. oil and acrylic paintings. About two years ago, I did one of my shots on a 30 X 24 canvas. People are always shocked that it is one of my photographs, it looks like an oil painting. Really beautiful. I love the texture it brings to the photos. Just wondering if anyone else is enjoying this new way to show photographs.
Happy Shooting!

I yearn to purchase a couple of my own photo prints (kind of costly). I have a gallery at Deviant Art and they offer wrap arounds and block frames (as well as Greeting Cards, Postcards, Mouse Pads, Coasters, Magnets, Mugs, Puzzles & Calendars). Someday, I hope. I actually did try one print from another site that no longer is operational and it was pretty nice. 16 x 20.

I have NO connection to this place, but I have used a couple different sites and one I did NOT like, but I have to say, Canvas On Demand is great. They have a lot of sales as well. So check it out. Just the other day, I sent one in and they wrote back to tell me that they thought it would look better on a 2 inch bigger canvas and said they would be happy to make it larger and would NOT charge me! When the heck does that happen now a days??? I was so happy! Can you believe it? A company that cares about the customer!!! What a novel idea!
Happy shooting!

When I was in highschool we printed on canvas by painting liquid light emulsion and printing to it in the darkroom. I really want to try this again, it's been a long time. With liquid light you can print on anything, paper, rocks, skin.

BE VERY CAREFUL of the site you use. I paid for a Canvas print only to get a rolled canvas of my picture, four interlocking sticks for the frame and instructions on how to mount it. Following their instructions I wore off part of the picture on the table I was using and a drop of sweat fell on the picture and disolved the ink. No where in the ordering process did it say it was a do it yourself project. Luckily, I had started to order 10 prints, but decided to try one first. Buyer Beware. I am only out about 20 dollars. it could have been hundreds.

I have to say, I am very happy and I think it takes photography to another great level of enjoyment. Just my opinion. It is just an option that I wanted to see what others thought about. Thanks for your comments.

I have one of my daughters prints hanging in my living room. I love it, but they are pretty pricy to have too many of them.

I would love to see what this looks like, sounds like a wonderful idea. Would you take a picture of one of your works on canvas and post so I could see please. Thanks, Melissa :-)

Jean, I have been having a lot of my prints done that way through Costco. The 20 by 30 inch canvas wrapped prints cost $70. I have them all over my house. Where are you getting yours done and how much are you paying?

Hi Jeanhdl:

I have mine put on canvas and have sold many.

They are costly, for a 20x30 thick canvas I pay

$160.00, and for 20x30 thin canvas its 100.00.

Both are wrap around and water proof, and ready

to hang. I have mine done at Photo Usa.These are

wrap around and very beautiful. Photonut

Hi Jean: I started working with "photo oils" over 20 years ago, I have used this technique on portraits and landscapes. You are right--they are really cool and most people who see them believe they are original oils.

I was at a fall festival last weekend and a photographer there had his photos on canvas...I was immediately in love with the results and plan to do one for my folks as a gift. Thanks for the advise on who to use for this.

I go thru Canvas on Demand, they have sales and I get a 16 X 20 for $45.00! Thin wrap and I choose to NOT have the photo wrapped all the way around. You can choose to have a white or black edge that wraps over the thin frame. Then I frame them with a float frame. I have included pictures to show you. The large on I did is of the blue boat hanging next to the oil painting. I have really enjoyed this. Glad others are enjoying it as well. Thanks for your comments!
