Boy, boats sure do use a lot of line don't they?
The first image was shot at the San Diego sport fishing marina, the rest were shot at the Maritime Museum of San Diego.

Lost art? not really, there are people called riggers that know these and many other forms of knots to secure 'things'. Google Two Knotty Guys and see all the amazing things they do.

This is quite a study in ROPE and most of us never have a clue of how complicated those boats really are when they set sail. The Knot tying must be a lot of work as well. Thanks for showing this because I never get to see any of these vessels up close any more and I like them.

Absolutely love your shots. Very unique and seldom seen. All are wonderful, but #4 and #5 are my favorites.
