Next week is the annual Adobe Max conference in Los Angeles. They always use it to promote new tools, tricks and features. Yesterday Adobe previewed via YouTube a new, improved "AI" Sensai driven Selection Tool.

As a photographer, what else would you like to have in Photoshop?

The ability to soft proof in ACR!
Also in ACR a gamma slider

A "mask" inversion in ACR/Lightroom. Save selection/mask in raw would be good.

Better Help. With most software, you click on Help in the top Menu, and you can look for the topic that's giving you trouble. With Adobe products, you tend to get directed to a web site or a forum. Now, I admit that I haven't used Adobe Help in a long time because I found it worthless, so maybe it's better now. When I have a problem, I Google it or go to UHH.

I need to learn more about what "gamma" is and does! (a nonlinear operation used to encode and decode luminance or tristimulus values in video or still image systems)

With all the adjustments being saved in catalog or sidecar files, wouldn't that be hard to do?

Nothing beats google searching! YouTube too.

Take another look at the Help menu. Adobe has been expanding the help system in two parts. One is the "F1" system that goes to a website full of choices. The other is a collection of video tutorials and that has a "Beginner" part and an "Experienced" part.

About a year ago they rewrote a .pdf instruction manual. At nearly 1000 pages, it's huge!

Thanks. I'll have to print and bind that manual.

"print and bind that manual"

It is hard to find. Adobe brought the manuals current about a year ago. Adobe forum participants expected to see them in the help menus. But, no, the "interactive" online content ruled.

If you can't find it with google searching, here is the 1000 pages for Photoshop: https://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/pdf/photoshop_reference.pdf

Lightroom Classic's 400 pages is here: https://helpx.adobe.com/content/dam/help/en/pdf/lightroom_reference.pdf

There will be a test next week.

Sure
It seems that should be a relatively simple link for the programmers.

The software packaged such that I can buy once selecting ala carte feature tiers without a subscription (Topaz style) which would include free bug fixes for as long as long as I have the camera body that I would be willing to associate it with. If I want new features or an update, no different than upgrading the camera body or buying a new lens, I understand I have to open my wallet again.

I know I know, stop dreaming...
