Epson R3000 black toner streaks

I have a 2+ year old R3000 that frequently leaves toner streaks on a print (thereby rendering it unusable). While not always the case, the streaking/smearing seems worse when the white margins are smallest. Note, too, that the streaks are always black.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the paper is flat, and not curled at the edges. If using (Thick) Art paper use the front loader.

We were having similar problems and quit using Epson black cartridges. Problem solved so far.

Are you selecting the correct paper settings and sizes? This can affect your outcome. I only use Epson cartridges and have never experienced the stated problem. But, printers can be finicky to say the least. I assume you've cleaned the heads and checked them as well as the alignment using the Epson Printer Utility software. Could be time to call Epson on this.

Calling Epson is good advice. You might also want to try a good cleaning (automated, NOT manual). Paper thickness and movement through the printer is also important as well as selecting the proper specifications and icc profiles for the paper before printing. Best of luck.

Hi, I had a similar problem with an Epson 1430, (great printer, btw).
It turned out the printer wasn’t level. When I leveled it, the black ink stains were gone. Worth a try.

I have that printer - much older than yours. The only time I have experienced black streaks was when the ink cartridge needed replacing. I think mine were due to depleted ink, rather than leaking ink. I've had the printer cleaned once by a professional. It has generally performed very well for years.

Change the cartridge

Most likely NOT the issue here.
