In this installment I am concentrating on the Palace of Versailles and the incredible gardens associated with it. The palace was the royal residence of France from the time of Louis XIV in 1682 until the start of the French Revolution under Louis XVI in1789. It is the second most visited site in Paris, after the Louvre and before the Eiffel Tower. As we toured the palace, it all seemed like it had been so much for so few. Comments welcome and I hope you enjoy.
#1 Many visitors were waiting in line to enter the palace. Officials were only allowing a certain number to enter at any one time.

#2 One look at the main gate made it obvious that royalty had once lived here.

Beautiful images Tom, thanks for taking us along!! The day we went we couldn't get in due to the crowd size and, dragging three teenagers along!!

Hard to imagine the size of the staff it took to maintain the Sun Kings palace. Nice photos!
