I was correct when l said that the Yankees would choke, but I never had a feeling that Houston would fall apart like they did in game seven. Only giving up one hit and no runs in six innings the roof opened up on Houston and they started to Choke big time and they really showed that "On any given day Team A can beat Team B regardless of there record". Washington won this series fair and square. I am glad they won it. They have not won it since they were the original Washington Senators before they became the Minnesota Twins.
I wanted Houston to win, but as you say, they choked and have to wait another year.

Actually the Washington Nationals have no link to the Washington Senators. They were previously the Montreal Expos.
The original Senators moved to Minnesota and became the Twins, the second Senators moved to Texas and became the Rangers.
I think “choke” is pretty strong...two good teams with good records. If they played 5 out of 9 it could have just as easily gone the other way. The interesting thing is that this is the first time in any 7 game final...including the NBA and NHL...that the home team lost each game.
I'm inclined to think that Houston lost the series more then Washinton won it.

Exactly right. A.J. Hinch said we were only going to bring Cole in if we were leading. Translation "if we're behind I don't want to give us a chance to get back in it". PRICELESS!
First pitchers and catchers report 11Feb.
Actually what LWW wrote was a total mis-interpretation of the post he was responding to.
The announcers, who should know better, kept linking the Nationals to the old Senators; it’s obvious to anyone who knows baseball, though, that the two teams have no common history at all, other than that they both happen to play in Washington.
As for who won, anyone who discounted the Nationals as the inferior team hasn’t been paying much attention this year. It was a good series that could have gone either way. The most interesting aspect of the Series is that the home team lost every game.

I would prefer to say, “The visiting team won each game!” So much for home field advantage!😃

Although Joe Buck is a total ditz neither he nor Smoltz were saying this team is the old Washington Senators. They were merely saying the last WS won by a Wash. DC team was in 1924 by the old Washington Senators.
