Steve Perry has an instinctual video regarding a new product by Wimberley that can be used on a monopod, as gimbal head. It looks like wonderful addition to your equipment.

I own the Acratech GP Ball-Head which does the same thing. If you own a Ball-Head, check it out to see if you can use it as a gimbal head.

Are we're talking about the sidekick, there's nothing new about that one, has been around for more than 20 years?

I just ordered one from Wimberley, doesn't look like it's available from Amazon, Adorama or B&H yet.

That was my first question after seeing the video. Can’t any ballhead with a 90 degree notch do the same thing? This new “monogimbal” would save weight, but is there any physical reason not to use your existing ballhead if you wanted to go this route?

I also use Acratech, great quality products . The GP ball head can also be inverted to use for stitch panoramas. The instructional videos on the Acratech site are very good .

I too love my Acratech GP. Only issue as a gimbel is using a big heavy lens with collar and "handle". Attaching to lens, it swivels as needed. Just awkward on tripod. But it works! Very easy panaramas, with L bracket for vertices, or horizontal. Useable pano markings. I like it better than my 45mm "chromed" ball head.

Oh my, I just noticed my spell checker change the word "instructional" to "instinctual." Sorry about that.

I would say yes, but you have to check to see what the weight handling capacity is with your camera and lens, mounted.

Saw the video. A monopod is still quite restrictive when trying to track a erratically flying bird, which, is what I do all the time when in the field.

I have owned mine for about three years, with very limited use because I shoot handheld for birds and wildlife. I am going to turn a new leaf and start using it more. I also have the Wimberley WH-200 Gimbal Head Version II, which is also collecting dust.

Hulu live will give you local channels and 60 plus channels. You can add cloud DVR services.

I use an outdoor antenna for local channels (free) connected to a tivo Over-The-Air (OTA) DVR. The tivo gives me streaming apps as well which provides some free channels (crackle). I subscribe to Netflix and Amazon prime for additional free movies, tv series and shipping service.

Another option I set up for my aunt was an outdoor antenna connected to an Amazon recast DVR for free local channels. This streams over wifi to two TVs which each have a fire stick. These fire sticks have the roku app which has additional channels and Sling. If you want hallmark channel then Sling provides that channel for $5 month.
Also many folks like hallmark channel and you can get that on frndlytv.com for $6 per month. You download that app on the roku or amazon fire stick.

Check out https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/ for more ideas.

David, what does this have to do with this subject?
