I just received this from Canon Regarding the security advisory for Canon digital cameras related to PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) communication functions and firmware update functions.
Update: 10/16/2019 Better late than never......

If you have a Canon camera that’s on the list AND you registered it with Canon, you should have received the email is my understanding.

I checked the article and my camera is not on the list. There has not been a firmware Update since I bought my particular camera model. I keep checking for new updates but none are available and my camera has the latest update listed.

I would say that you bought your camera after it had been in the field for a while and all updates were made.
This particular update relates to cameras that connect via a network connection of one type or another, fixing a hack.
