Big studio with big windows.

I spent some time in the studio yesterday with some models, my Canon 6D, AND my brand new iPhone 11 Pro. I played around with a new Tric bluetooth flash trigger but was not impressed with my results, but when it comes to natural light, which we had plenty of in this second-story studio with huge windows, the results were awesome. There is the argument that "yes, but can you make big enlargements from your iPhone images"? Well - I think you probably can - this camera is a 12mp camera, and the jpeg images are in the range of 2.6mb, so I would suspect that you could get some decent enlargements.

About the Tric flash trigger - it is designed to link a phone to a flash - I attached it instead to a wireless trigger to fire the studio strobes. There was about a half-second delay between pressing the "take picture" button on the Trac Ap and the actual firing of the flash. This was annoying and distracting. My other complaint is that the Tric Ap does not seem to allow you to take advantage of the three lenses on the iPhone to compose your photo prior to pressing the exposure button.

These images are straight out of the iPhone with nothing - zero - done. I will be posting more later in the week.

This image of Dani - with the ivy tattoo - as I see it here I am thinking - "gee - is that her elbow or a deformed breast"? I have not yet learned to see all the details before I take the photograph...

AND - I will be posting images from my 6D as well. But those, quite honestly, I will have to spend some time on in post-processing.

Well, elbow and forearm.

My first reaction was "Wow, those are 'busy' photos," and my mind jumped back to Timmers' photos. But I think the big difference is that in your photos the background is busy but consistent, and it fits with the rest of the image; therefore, it works for me.

Can't wait to see the 6D work.

Great series. The first is obvious a posed picture but well done and comfortable. And the background soft. The next to have a more spontaneous look and the sharp background if obviously wallpaper. Can you control the aperture on that phone?

Good bet Jay; We can see her finger nail just by her lip, so her left arm is up to her and her hand by her face, the elbow kinda gives a hint of mystery since it hides her breast. I wish I was so lucky to have lovely models to photograph.

When will photographers refuse to shoot if tattooed?

Well, much as I don't like most tattoos, this one is not ugly, and I would not refuse to shoot her if asked.

I don't know, I guess it is a personal choice. I am 68 and it seems like the two generations below me found ink and piercings fashionable. I don't have either , never did.
