We are going to Chile, Argentina, and Rio. Does anyone know if I need a voltage converter in addition to a plug adapter for my Nikon battery charger?

My Nikon charger says 100-240V on the back of it so there should not be a problem as long as you have the different plug adapters. My wife and I traveled there in 2015 and had just the plug adapters and experienced no problem with our camera and phone chargers.

We really enjoyed South America by the way. Have a fun journey!

You will need a plug adapter i.e., in Brazil most plugs are round. The voltage is 120/60

I don't know. I would take it there is no problem with how much space it takes up. You can't use what you don't have.

Because it is a medical device, it is not counted as one of your bags.

Hi I have traveled extensively with a CPAP machine. the only problem I've had was in Africa on Safari where electricity in tents was not guaranteed. There I used batteries for my machine..generally, check the tag on your machine and one of the lines will be “input” and I am pretty sure it will say 100 - 240 volts. Most of these machines are either manufactured in countries where 220 is the standard or they are designed to sell in the international market place. As an avid CPAP user, my advice is do NOT leave it at home. Using it is too important to your overal health. Enjoy your Tripp’s and take lots of pics of the the many colorful scenes you will come across

Probably more info than you need but will help you answer your question and may be useful for someone else.

Hi I have traveled extensively with a CPAP machine... (show quote)

Thanks, I am definitely going to take it, because leaving it at home would produce a fatal event. That is, that my wife would kill me in may sleep if I was snoring. The power supply does say 100-240v, as you stated.

In most South American countries you will need a European 2-prong plug Type C, AND the voltage is 220v - for transformers (battery chargers and iPhone charges) all you need is the adapter, but for your CPAP machine, you will see fireworks if you plug it in to 220 volts! You will need a converter - Amazon has bunches of converters with plug sets for the $45 range. Ask your physician about getting a Hep A vaccination prior to going to Rio. It is a two-shot series (six months apart), but even one shot gives you a lot of protection.

Right. The plug will be different. Of course, each country has its own idea of what is the best combination.

You do need extra SD cards. I found that all I could buy in Chile were the that have a mini-card inserted, which would not work in my camera.

Having travelled to many locations worldwide, never had a need for a converter, just adapter for CPAP, cameras, phone, iPad. You can run into no electricity at night at some Safari Tented Camps so carry some Breathe Right Strips just in case (better than nothing at all). Never had a problem in South America, (Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina.) Some hotels even have a US type plug available. Also many hotels have USB ports which are great to use for phone, iPad, cameras.
