In this installment I am featuring the Eiffel Tower as well as some other subjects. The Tower was constructed between 1887 and 1889 as the entrance to the 1889 World's Fair. According to Wikipedia it is the world's most visited paid monument. We did not go up to the top, only to the second level, but that afforded us some terrific views of Paris.

#2 I was somewhat surprised by the huge size of the area covered by the base of the tower. And I realize the polarizer I was using on my w/a lens cut into the image.

#7 I was amazed at what a densely packed city Paris actually is. It seemed like about the only green spaces were along the major streets.

#8 It was nice to find some patches of natural beauty among all the manmade structures.

#10 I think this is my favorite image of that iconic tower. I captured this one the next day, which thankfully, was beautifully clear.

How do you visit the Eiffel Tower and not go all the way up? That’s like saying, “I ordered the lobster but didn’t eat the tail”.

It had something to do with the extra cost.

Thank you Carol for looking in and commenting. The first day seeing the Tower was pretty cloudy, but after that we had near perfect weather.

Wonderful pictures. Did you have lunch at le Jules Verne Restaurant? On our last trip we had dinner there. The views of Paris at night are fantastic.
