In September and October of this year we finally made our long planned trip to France and Spain. My wife had made most of this journey before, but for me it was my first time in either country. We did not travel with a group, but just by ourselves. My wife had the itinerary well planned out. In France we visited Paris, including Versailles, as well as Lourdes. In Spain we visited Seville, Madrid, and Toledo.

I will be posting several installments of images so as to include some photos of each destination. In this first installment I am featuring the Arch of Triumph (Arc de Triomphe), one of Paris' most famous landmarks.

Beautiful scenes and good work capturing them. I really enjoyed seeing some not so ordinary views of familiar scenes.

Thank you very much Bob for taking a look and commenting. I appreciate it. When we travel I always try to capture some meaningful/significant images. If I can do that, then I know I will not come home with just a bunch of trivial snapshots.

I will certainly do that. If it had not been for her detailed planning and preparation, I know the trip would not have been so enjoyable and successful.

I heard that. In my photo club meeting a month or two ago we had a local college teacher show pics of a 3-week solo trip to India that she and her husband took. It took almost a year of planning. Her husband was born in India, but he spoke no Hindi (grew up in England). They figured what they wanted to shoot throughout the country and then looked for small inns, hotels or b&bs near the centers of the areas of interest. I haven't yet had the guts to try a foreign trip by myself.

Thank you kindly MT for looking in and commenting. Yes, as a former travel agent, my wife did a super job in planning our itinerary. And of course I knew the Arch would be huge, but did not really comprehend its true size until getting up close.
