Two weeks ago we were told by the locals that we had timed our "leaf peeping" to northern Maine just right.
They were right. The trees were super. They also told us to forget our GPS to find our way around because it would not work there. I have no idea why it didn't work there, but they were right, it didn't. In no time at all we found ourselves in the boonies on logging roads, who knows where. It was the best thing that could have happened. There was no traffic at all and every direction was a wall hanger just waiting.

Maine is the most heavily forested state in the country. FYI

"The season" may be short in Maine, but it is well worth the trip as you found out. Beautiful images. Is #3 the result of wind or some "Post Magic?"
