I had a stroke 6 weeks ago that affected my left side. It will be a long time before I can use my Fuji. I am thinking about purchasing an iPhone 11 pro 256 gigabits. I can shoot with it using my right hand. Any thoughts are appreciated. Going through a tough time and taking pictures will help.

Check out Emil Pakarklis on YouTube to see what you can do with an iPhone. I have an iPhone 10RX and it’s great. They’re pretty amazing devices. You may have an issue with stability for one-handed use, a two handed grip works better but you can always look for scenes where you can prop against something solid. The picture quality is very very good.

I'm so sorry you have such a health issue. I have arthritic hands and fingers and have to struggle to use my DSLRs. Yet, I still find it hard to shoot using my Samsung Galaxy Note8 SmartPhone as well. Small objects are not necessarily easier to manipulate. Someone on the UHH asked sometime about ideas for a one handed (adult?) child who wanted to do photography. It was suggested she have a bracket rigged with remote trigger mounted to the camera so she could shoot one handed. I actually rigged up something similar for my self using a (spare) flash bracket with a wireless RF shutter trigger so I would not have to coordinate my bad and weak right hand so much. I can firmly grasp the bracket grip with my left hand and balance and trigger the camera with my right. The main problem still is with this rig I must use an AF lens (only), and I have to work at changing camera setting awkwardly.

And Cell Phone grips are made. I have one. Get well.

I think it would be difficult to hold the phone and click it with one hand, but then I'm not an experienced phone photographer. I would think holding a camera and clicking the button with one hand would be fairly easy, depending on the size of the camera. A wrist strap would be a good idea.

Sorry you are experiencing health problems. I think a smart phone would certainly allow you to continue enjoying photography. Apple is not the only choice, take a look at Samsung, LG and Motorola, too. A wrist strap would probably be helpful.

Don't know the specifics of the iPhone 11, but many smartphones are not that easy to trigger with one hand while holding it reasonably steady. Suggest you try one out before you buy.

I just purchased one a few days ago. So far I am impressed. You might want to consider getting a small gimbal stabilizer, which will allow more single-handed operation, as well as stabilizing for video. This unit connects to the mounted phone via Bluetooth and has controls in the handle. Maybe someone who has used a unit like this with a smartphone can pitch in their experience. I am only looking right now.

Same with my left side. Please don't give up. It took 8 weeks for me to teach myself to walk again. Hang in there.

Thanks to all the stroke didn't take my sense of humor or my grit. I will walk again and shot photos with my Fuji.

The volume buttons can be assigned for shutter release. Would give you a better one-handed grip on the phone.
Sympathies concerning you 'incident'.

The camera on my iPhone Xr is excellent. I can only imagine that the 11 is much better. Sounds like a good option for you during this time. The 11 Pro has three cameras: ultra wide, wide, and telephoto.

Sorry to hear that. I wish you a speedy recovery. I'm not very good with iPhone images. Shaky right hand (slight Parkinson's).
I agree with others, maybe a wrist strap?

Good luck,
Mark

I second the idea of the small gimbal for 2 reasons, stability and, just push the remote button on the handle and you've got the shot!
