Microsoft Windows 10 problem

Downloaded the newest Microsoft Update Windows 1903. After installation I had no startup screen, the screen was gone, only the software was on the main screen. After spending two days trying to figure this problem out and talking to the IT people with the BNSF Railroad and having no answers either, that left me with one other place to contact Microsoft. Contacted them, told them what was going on and within 30 seconds the problem was corrected. Seems that the software bios was outdated and the need a new version of Windows 10 update 1903 did not like it. So after l updated the new version of the software bios everything is back to normal. Thank you Microsoft. There is only one problem I have with this update. Microsoft does not tell the people that if they receive a black screen with only the software after startup check the software bios and if it is older than 2016, install a new version of the software bios first then the new Microsoft Windows update version 1903. It would have made it a lot simpler.

I am having issues with SpyderEliteX calibration due to Microsoft Update Windows 1903 can't read LUT according to hte POPUP. Datacolor says they can do nothing until Microsoft fixes issue.

Right click on the screen and on the pop up window go to view and then highlight show desktop icons. That should get rid of not seeing your program icons on screen.

No issues with 1903 on any of my desktop, all in one, or two laptops. They are all older than 2016 too. Except for one laptop that is...

Just another reason I am staying with Windows 7 until I have to have newer computers.

I just had to fix my father in laws older laptop which is running windows 7. I had to do a clean wipe and reinstall the OS. I had to go to Dell and download and manually install the drivers that were wiped as well. Microsoft no longer supports Windows 7 and that was why I had to go this route....

I have three PCs and frequently scan for things like Bios and driver updates. I can't say with certainty there's a connection, but I have never had even a minor issue with any of the Windows 10 updates. Your computer(s) should have a scan program that can help. Else, the Intel Driver and Support Assistant can also provide update info. Good luck.

I installed it a few days ago and now I find that my HP printer does not work as a stand alone to print a copy. I need to turn my computer on and make a copy that way. It is a royal pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Thank you.

Downloaded the newest Microsoft Update Windows 190... (show quote)

I have a 12 year old Dell laptop running 1903 with no issues, and I am sure the bios hasn't been updated in a decade. Problems such as this seem to be related to specific hardware and not necessarily applicable to all hardware. Having said that, I'm glad you were able to get your computer back up and running. Problems like yours can be difficult to diagnose and fix.

Sure glad Microsoft fixed it without crashing the harddrive and reloading everything. Thank you Microsoft.

Why is it Microsoft's responsibility to keep track of your BIOS version? Seems like that's something the user should be checking periodically.

It’s not Microsoft’s purview but that of the computer manufacturer.
