Yes you did butt in. This may be an open forum but some conversations are directly between two (or more) people.

And you still have not understood the context of the post. I am not giving false information. I even clearly stated that i am not against the camera. I'm sharing my choice and personal view.

You are the one giving false information as you are stating something i have not done.
You are even judging me to be ignorant about the subject. Because you own one and i only used a loaner?

Words matter? Why then are your putting your own words as mine? Your are not basing on my words. Your making up your own.

Best to photograph the the same subject that has some shadow detail at various ISO's and decide for yourself what you would consider acceptable. However, on a technical note (in easy to understand language) Steve Perry's 'secrets to exposure and metering for Nikon' explains it quite well starting on page 561. It is the best money I've ever spent. On the 7100, (per Perry's literature) 2500 iso is the max for amplified ISO before digital amplification takes over. (The D7200 and D750 is at ISO 8,000). Again, make your own tests and see what is best for you.

I have found 2500 is the highest that I use unless special conditions warrant more.

As you might have guessed, I own a Nikon d7100. Lol. I use my camera primarily for various outdoor activities. I often find myself in low light conditions where I need to push the ISO higher. Based upon readers experiences, what is the highest ISO one can use on the d7100 without significant noise or picture degradation?

Thanks

I am curious. LOL. Which meaning do you mean?
I see no connection to the topic.
Is this another way of saying uh or er?
Not just you, but many people waste space doing this.
Is it so hard anymore to simply state your problem? Is this the new norm in basterdising the English language?

As an old timer film photographer I'm afraid to go over 100 ISO on my Nikon D800 and Canon IDs Mark 111, I have to have one great big think about it before I cautiously go up to 400.

800 , oh my God!

I was the same way - when I shot film. But digital is a whole new ballgame. When I shoot stage performances I go up to ISO 8000 on my D750 with good results. Don't be afraid to experiment, pixels are free. No reason to be stuck in the past.

I don't need to go to 12,000 ISO for a portrait, street work or an urban landscape!
Nor do I need a whole rake of focus points:-)

Try night street photography. You'll need high ISO. Not all street work is in the daytime. I actually prefer night.
