Old Car City started as a small general store in 1931 and is still family owned and operated. It wasn't until 2009 that owner Dean Lewis -- who grew up on the property -- realized he could turn it into a tourist attraction because a lot of people shared his love of decomposing automotive carcasses.

Introduced in 2000 as Canon's top-line professional 35mm film camera, the EOS 1v was Canon's final 1-series film camera and was then the most advanced EOS camera created. The camera features a 45-point auto-focus array, including 7 cross-point sensors around the center of the frame. The camera records 20 attributes of metadata for each frame, including focal length, shutterspeed, and shooting mode among the many attributes. Using a third-party tool, this EXIF data can be extracted from the EOS body and applied to the scanned JPEGs from the processed negatives.

Owner Dean Lewis clears the paths, but otherwise leaves the cars to the mercy of time and nature.

"It’s history. I saved them when other people were crushing them," Lewis says. "I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t get up every morning and look at old cars."

Thanks Paul for revisiting this old spot with that earlier camera. Film is still awesome and your work proves it. Your lab in California does nice processing too. There are still a few of them around the country and I currently use one in Baltimore as one in NYC.

It's good to have choices and variety makes my day a better path to the next one.

Thanks Man.....Good Job !

Thank you Blair! For me, the deciding criteria for film processing and scanning are: cost, speed, scanning resolution and scanning quality. I had a lot of issues at The Darkroom for scratches and hair / lint in the scans. High-resolution scans help on the clean-up in LR, but the work is tedious. NCPS hasn't been perfect, just better. Sending packages back n forth to California in 2019 shouldn't be an issue, but there's the occasional aggravations of the USPS performance too.

Thank you Jack, junglejim1949, Greg, nimbushopper, Earnest, Bill, Saigon! I made a 'decision' a few years ago to differentiate between digital and film by using B&W for film. And then, I bought some expired colored film and got interested in the various types. Ektar used for these images (and expired Fuji Superia) have proved successful for color film types. Glad you enjoyed.

Love the first pic of that Olds, drove different models over the years starting in 1958, and drove them for 43 years until the end of production.

Thank you canarywood1! Most of the cars on the property are older than my memories back to the mid 60s. But, there are many there that jog my own memories, some at first glance could have been my family's or HS friend's, if they had gone straight from my memories in TX / OH / IN / MI to this forest in GA.

Thank you Ched49, dat2ra! I've been Old Car City now a couple of times of the past couple of years and I keep trying to find different ways to capture the cars, or to focus on different aspects. Glad you enjoyed.
