Birds in Flight
First time I've ever tried photographing birds in flight.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I also realize I will need to invest in some software that will
get rid of the background. Anyone that would like to make some alterations to the background, you're more than welcomed. I'd like to see what kind of results can be had.
Thanks,
Frank

pretty darned good for your first BIF shots, but i'm no expert on changing backgrounds, i'm afraid...
Nice job Frank. I actually think that for these subjects, the background works. I understand its neutrally toned and "beige' but that just draws you to the falcons.
I wouldnt change much. Just my take on it.
Thanks.
I'm learning my D90. One control I have down after the "BIF" day was the delete button. Lots of out of focus shots. But I think fewer as the day went on.
Having a ball learning from this site and just out taking pictures.

Great captures and I agree with a previous post, the existing backgrounds work pretty well but, since you asked, try this on for size.
Your backgrounds look great...nothing is taken away from the bird. Great captures. I believe the background evandr put in is just what you're looking for in future shots once you know how it's done and you're proficient with your editing package. Getting rid of a background takes some practice. But with today's digital cameras you can shoot and delete what you don't like or work with the image in your editor.
I think they're all very good. May I ask what specifics you used for the shots? (Speed, ISO, f/stop, did you use sports mode or any basic mode...)
If you like...I'll make some adjustments to these fine pics.
Your first time wow these are great . The background doesnt bother me at all im more of a natural photographer i understand you wanting to change the background though , if it was me id get rid of the orange markers on the fense and blur the background even more .
Could you share with us your camera, f-stop-iso-etc.
very cool photos.
I think for your first time you did a remarkable job, how did you get that angle on shot #2?? Absolutely love it, but it looks like you are above the bird??
I think these backgrounds work well too. I've been trying to learn this editing stuff myself, and have been working on a hawk I took the other day.
Good luck, your off to a great start!
Mark,
All were taken with a Nikon D90 & AF-S 70-300mm lens

Being a newbie, I don't feel I should be doing any critiquing, but IMHO, the shots are very good. I like the clarity, can seen the reflection in the bird's eye. Very nice. I haven't gotten a handle on birds yet. All mine turn out blurry. That was with my P&S, sort of limited options. Hopefully with my dSLR I can hone my skills.
use your shutter priority , note his 1250 speed thats a good speed for allot of defintiton .
You can do manual also but if your not comfortable with manual dont use it .
keep trying once you get it your hooked.
good luck.
