I'd be looking for a nice Italian Restaurant, preferably with a view of the River Walk!

I have never been to San Antonio but from seeing photos it is a great place to visit. Now the Italian restaurant on the Riverwalk might be a possibility but somehow I am just not able to visualize that scene. Maybe because I am the only white boy in a Hispanic neighborhood or even in my own home for that matter.
If there is one I would love to join you there some day.

Others have responded to your question. I only wish to interject, if you photograph the Alamo (and who doesn't), try to get there early in the morning (dark early). There are so many tourist that getting a shot of the Alamo without people is very difficult. My shot had the color temp altered to more reflect firelight as it would have been during the actual attack.

Also, remember, to us in Texas, this is sacred ground. Please respect the lives lost here.

Edward Gonzales (Don't call him Eddy, or Ed Junior, he hates those names, just call him Ed) and his sister are now San Antonio's Camera Exchange. Ed Senior* is fully retired from his store. The store is quite large, deals with both new and used photography gear. They have a vary good selection of film and digital gear, new and used Leica, Nikon , Pentax, Canon and just about anything you can imagine. It has everything under the sun photographically. The last real camera/photography store in San Antonio.
*Ed Senior is renown in the history of photography. Eastman Kodak would locate new sales personnel to the Dallas Division and send them to call on Ed in San Antonio to see how well they did with him. Most were sent packing by ol' Ed! He was a real nasty sort to sales people).

Only tourist eat on the River Walk, most of the food is poor to middle of the road.
La Focaccia Italian Grill
Capparelli's On Main

But! Now, if you are in San Antonio, you want to get THE burger, Chris Madrid's Macho Porky's Delight, located at 1900 Blanco Rd, and Hollywood. The burger is cooked on a 1930's grill renown for imparting flavor and it is considered one of the best burgers in the entire US.

Steak, The Barn Door (NOT the Little Red Barn!) is considered one of the finest stake places in all of Texas.

Tex-Mex is Tito's Mexican Restaurant in down town on the edge of King William District.
Yes, Mexican Pastry it is open 24 hours a day from Mi Tierrita Restaurant, the restaurant has poor quality food, it sucks, tourist only.

There are many restaurant in San Antonio, the culture are German Italian and of course Mexican and also Tex-Mex restaurants. A German food, the Frito of Frito-Lay was created in San Antonio, the Puffy Taco, it goes on and on, but don't go for junk, there are great restaurant all over San Antonio.

One HUGE heads up, critical in fact, stay OUT of the Barrio, it is the place down by the old stock yards that you get to by crossing over the rail road tracks by way of the elevated bridges. It is extremely dangerous, so stay out of it. At night you will find it a vary dangerous location in deed.
