The auto focus on m Sony a900 just quit working it stays in manual focus no matter what I do. Any idea what has happened? Will be taking it to a camera repair shop but would like to get an idea of what it could be.
Thanks for your help

Does it fail on more than one lens?

Try resetting your camera back to the default settings and see how that goes. I don't own any Sony cameras so I don't know how you do it.

That camera was when Sony made DSLRs. Not anymore. Good luck on your fix.

Just a thought; Does either the body switch or lens switch happen to be on manual instead of AF? Have you cleaned the contacts on both the camera and the lens? Have you changed a menu setting that would limit AF? If you did a minor "reset", see what the procedure is for a full reset (usually involves a full power down, and running the internal/clock battery down, then a recharge, etc.)....should be an explanation of the process somewhere in the camera documents or on the Sony site. Try Sony for their thoughts.

Thanks some how the switch must have moved to manual. Woke up about 2:00 am and checked it now all is well. Guess I’m not to bright

That has happened to me so many times I can't count them. Now, I automatically check both the lens switch and the camera switch if for some reason my auto focus stops working. To date, when this occurs, one of the two switches has always been mysteriously moved to the MF position.
