Great shots as always friend, you are always right on. The weather is getting better here. Was a little cool the other day (nice) but the wind picked up and it was kinda chilly. Hope I can take the cold this year. One thing I need to figure out is how to still have my shirt on the outside so people can see the MaxPreps.com and know I am shooting for them. Last year I had a problem with hands cramping when got real cold. We will seen what happens. Gotta go get first cup, still not awake yet. Thanks

Tom

Epic imagery as always Jules... fabulous decisive moment beautifully captured.... not only do you have the ball in the frame but even the players eyes! How wonderful is that! Outstanding... you are an incredibly tough act to follow Jules... And you continue to raise the bar! Good show, love the inspiration...

Ok I'm really glad to see you're now mating that D4 with the 200-500mm glass... Yes FX makes a sizable difference not on do you get a much brighter viewfinder (and who doesn't love that) you realize the full glory of those amazing 19 Optical Elements... It's an FX lens, designed for FX not APC... Yes there is a marked difference... And that D4 is an iconic "Sports Platform"... Such a wise move to be at 1/2500 to 1/3200... I've totally abandon 1/2000 for Soccer, it simply isn't fast enough...

And what's with the "Selfie" on the last image... Can that be you in the Sunglasses reflection? Way too funny... great shot of the "Coach" who has perfect pearly whites that an orthodontist could only dream of.... lol

Keep up the good work and you are totally above my level at hand holding... Only for the 70-200mm is that an option for my abilities (and I even workout with weights to manage that). Looking forward to more of your marvelous sport imagery.... Thanks!

Thomas wow what a review. Only thing I can say is thank you. I try to capture the moments.
The color is wonderful with the D4, but a little slow to focus compared to the D500.

Just got some compression gloves from Bed and Bath for the cold. Nice thin gloves with no finger tips.

I either wear the long sleeve shirt, or the MP jacket. I bought them a few years ago. Does the job. You can only buy MP gear once a year when Todd lets you know.

Very well captured. Daylight games are the best. Thanks for the heads up on the shutter speed. I have been shooting less that half of that based on the stadium lighting. Thank you for sharing.

You're way too humble Jules.... You nailed it here... in spades!
“Do or do not, there is no try” From Yoda (Star Wars) - The Empire Strikes Back...

Totally understand...
"The color is wonderful with the D4, but a little slow to focus compared to the D500..."
Remember the D500 has D5's epic focusing engine... The Multi-CAM 20K AF sensor module which is literally in a class of it's own with 153 focus points, 99 of which have cross-type sensors... Just maybe don't stop down to f/8 since that might render it to virtually 15 central focus points (from what other users have noticed). Mixed reviews here...

Also having the painfully slow focusing AF-S 200-500mm f/5.6E VR in the mix doesn't help either...
Would be very interested in your experience with the 70-200mm @ f/2.8 with the D4...
Having four times the light to work with could make a world of difference in focus acquisition and tracking.

Again keep raising the bar... nice to have a rabbit on the track to run against...

Your too kind sir. The D4 is faster with the 70-200 2.8 a little.
