Believe this area just south of Lee Vining, California is called "Poverty Flats". These old cabins have been deserted for many years and I have photographed them numerous times and posted them before on the hog. Prior post had more a few more shacks that have since crumbled into oblivion. So, as we were driving past them, I thought I would photo them again before these too are gone. Did have good morning light and the beautiful Sierra's as a background!
Beautiful, interesting, I never saw them.
Very nice photos thanks for sharing saying hello from Pittsburgh.
Very nice! You do get around!
I too saw these on my trips to Mono/Tioga - Yes these could have been from the mining days and were homes of miners families who were working in Bodie and other mines higher up - this would have been decent farming, sheep/cattle land back then before the water was diverted to LA - that stream coming down from Tioga canyon would have been plenty for the area these cabins are at. Also these homes could have been abandoned at the same time as Bodie closed.

There are many deserted or almost deserted here in WV as industry, mining or logging moved on. I like the images quite a bit, they seem to have ... character, for lack of a better word. Well done. Thanks for sharing.
I am 82 and the son of a transient hard rock miner who for the first 18 yrs of my life lived in many mining towns in CO, NV,CA ID, MT -from '37-'55 - many of those towns are either ghost towns (Burke, ID) or tourist towns (Telluride, Silverton, CO - Virginia City, NV -Wallace, ID,) now but so many have "shacks/houses" like these around them - the house we lived in at Virginia City, NV in '39 is just an empty lot with rusty nails - all else rotted away. I now live 25 mi up hwy 88 from Jackson, CA where my father worked in '43-
