Pics taken on another day out last week in and around Winchester.

Wolvesey has been an important residence of the wealthy and powerful Bishops of Winchester since Anglo-Saxon times. Standing next to Winchester Cathedral, the extensive surviving ruins of the palace date largely from the 12th-century work of Bishop Henry of Blois. The last great occasion here was on 25 July 1554, when Queen Mary and Philip of Spain held their wedding breakfast in the East Hall.

Thanks for sharing your great pictures.

We lived in Dorset for a year about thirty years ago and loved visiting Winchester while there.

A little town called Wool. It's about 12 miles from Dorchester. I was working at the AEA Winfrith site. We really enjoyed the year travelling all about every weekend including taking the train into London about one weekend a month.

We went back to visit about three years ago. NOTHING had changed.
