I have a Nikon D850 that will not bracket in manual mode. Has anyone else experienced this? It works fine in aperture priority. I’m wondering if I have a setting that is preventing it from working. Thanks

in aperture priority bracketing changes the shutter speed. What would you expect will change if in manual?

Why would you expect any camera to bracket in manual mode? The camera can't change any settings to bracket if you've told the camera you will control all settings, hence the name manual mode.

My camera has always bracketed in manual mode up until recently.

You should be able to bracket exposure if you are using auto iso. Otherwise, the camera will assume you want to you want to change all exposure parameters on your own.

My friend has the same camera and is able to bracket in manual with all manual settings. ISO and aperture stay same just exposure changes.

It looks like the D800 will bracket in manual mode. The first sentence ends by saying that the camera will modify exposure by varying shutter speed when the camera is in "manual exposure mode."

I never use bracketing, it is my understanding that in Manual mode, the D850 would use the EV to change the exposure with increments from 0.3 EV upwards depending on what you set. The D850 should permit 9 frames to be shot in the bracketing mode.

I just googled it and came across this - please follow the link. Hope it is useful. Link - https://onlinemanual.nikonimglib.com/d850/en/11_exposure_07.html

The D850 is a very complex camera electronically. Mine stopped controlling the viewfinder masks a few months after I got it.
It is possible that something has failed, perhaps on the main circuit board. I suggest a call to NikonUSA to discuss the problem and have them work through some diagnostics with you.

Also...these cameras can be quite sensitive to shocks and bumps, again due to the internal complexity. Can you recall any drops or bumps or other unusual handling circumstances?

I don't have a D850 but I do know that my D5200 needs to be in continuous shutter release mode if I want it to step through the bracketing sequence automatically. In single release mode I would have to press the shutter release three times to get three exposures. Perhaps your D850 has a choice of stepped or continuous bracketing modes or some such.

How about a simple reset

No I actually just had the camera serviced. I plan to call Nikon on Monday to discuss. Thank you for your reply.
