Does the skin look better in this rendition?

Coco, I took the shine off her nose. I deleted the photo, here's the modified one.
Looks perfect to me as mine looks like her liver is shot---that's what I got when I lightened the entire photo. I don't think your photo is too dark and it looks pretty close to my 1st attempt---wondering about OPs calibration as originals are definitely off color and lighting..........

   You really made me laugh!! And thanks for your comments. Without seeing the graduate, can't be sure about coloring, but it looks fairly natural to me now. Skin tones are very difficult.

Especially if her liver is shot, which it seems to be... poor thing, so beautiful with such a future but her liver needs replacement...

Your ability to diagnose by way of a photograph amazes me. I can assure you as a Respiratory therapy instructor and a registered therapist of 25 years, this young lady whom I have had as a student for the past 6 months simply has a skin tone that most Ethiopians have, Maybe you better stick to playing with your computer and leave the medical stuff alone.
Thanks again to all of you and I'm glad I could provide a good subject for us to work with.

I can't believe you're trying to make this pleasant thread into an argument with derogatory jabs about playing with computers. And bragging about your years of respiratory therapy is of no significance concerning her liver, if that was even the point of this, and it's not and never was.

The liver thing has been a joke I didn't start since early in this thread, for god's sake. And sorry but I've never seen an Ethiopian nor anybody else with orange skin in person nor in photos. Even on TV commercials for help the hungry organizations, Ethiopians are never orange. Maybe a slight tint of an odd non-American coloring but the orange of your photo is definitely too saturated as though somebody threw a bucket of orange food dye on her. Maybe you better stick to your respiratory instruction and have somebody come and play with your computer to calibrate your monitor.

I gave it a try here is my results, I did cheat here and there, I did try to remedy the tone that made her look like she had drunk too much carrot juice

thanks again guys.I taught this young lady for over 6 months and she really does have sort of an orangey look to it.he is Ethiopian and they tend to have some very "different" skin tones.
A good point was brought up about calibration on my computer. I would appreciate some help here

thanks
There are a number of posts on UHH regarding monitor calibration and I'm sure if you look into the search catagory you'll find better advice than I can proably give. I have a Dell Ultrasharp #2410 monitor and as far as calibration goes the small tweeks I have to give this baby are minimal to say the least. That being said not that many people have $500 monitors that are calibrated by the factory out of the box and hold that calibration at a pretty steady rate. I use the Spyder 3 for calibrating my monitor but there are a number of different companies that manufacture these calibrators. As a matter of fact I think there was a thread within the last couple of days regarding the issue of calibrations and different calibrators used. Once you have one it's a whole different world. Good luck......
