I have two NIkon Df bodies Both bought used with very low shutter counts. The more recent one came with less than 3,000 clicks from Roberts. After a few months the mirror stuck in the up position and it had to go to Nikon repair. Fortunately Roberts picked up the tab for repair. The older one was purchased from a private individual several years ago with 635 clicks on the shutter and worked well up until now. The camera controls seemed frozen and nothing responded - fresh battery, fresh card, different lenses. It is now on the way to Nikon for repair. Neither camera body has more that 6,000 clicks at present. My oldest DSLR a D5300 has been merrily working fine after 4 or 5 years. Due to family situation I don't get to shoot much. I am shocked that both Dfs suffered problems at such a young age. Any comments from Df users are welcome.
PS I consulted Nikon and their recommendations didn't work. They told me to send it in.

I don't know what to say, I've been using my Df since I bought it new in 2013. No problems ever.
I purchased my Df about 6 months after they were introduced, it is one of 3 camera's that I use.
The D7100 probably gets the least amount of use, the Z6 gets played with more just because it is newer and I'm still learning. The Df is by far the workhorse and goes everywhere with me and has yet to have a hiccup. Mine has been soaked twice, and exposed to extreme temps on more than one occasion and it remains my favorite camera of all times. Hope you get yours working soon and I hope you work it to death!
Phil
My Df meter failed after 4 years.
Bought mine 5 1/2 years ago. Has over 10,000 clicks to date. No problems so don't jinx me.

I own 3 Df bodies. One is a collector only (gold version) the other two are all blacks. I just had my original Df converted to IR this summer. In almost 6 years never had an issue with either. I use them specifically for indoor, low light shooting normally. Never had an issue of any kind with them that wasn't my own doing.
36k clicks on one, 82k clicks on the IR.
At this time I can’t say the number of shutter activations, but I have no issues with my Df.

I have 3 Nikon DX camera bodies, D200, D300S and D7200 all bought used. Never had a problem with the bodies nor lenses. All work great today. Good luck.

I am not a Nikon Df user, but I know the guys are out of the Nikon D4. The D4 lasts and lasts and lasts. I am perplexed that both of your Df's experienced malfunctions. Very unusual to say the least.
I wonder if moisture could have crept in over time? Also water of salt water could have gone into these bodies before you bought them (you stated they were low shutter counts and used) sometimes a camera that was dunked on get soaked in rain will work fine for a while and then the moisture takes it's toll in a variety of ways.
Bottom line, very sorry for your Df problems. I wish you nothing but the best in your future purchases.

The topic was 'Nikon Df' not DX.
I have my Df since 2013, no trouble at all!

Maybe you took them to too many Pirate games and they died of frustration.

I am sure you meant to say, too many Miami Dolphins football games and they died of frustration.

That's not football ... and don't ask me what it is ... I don't know this year.

No, I meant Pirates. I'm originally from Pittsburgh and a long time Pirates fan. The current owner and general manager have damaged a once proud franchise. My comment wasn't meant as a snarky put down, but as a demonstration of my and many other Pirate fans anger and disappointment over the way the team is being run.
That is surprising. I wonder if there was a non-Nikon-Service solution available. Since you tried the standard battery replacement, etc., maybe Nikon was your only option. Let us know what they say about it.
