Does anyone actually give out his/her SS number to get a credit card from Amazon that promises a ridiculously low price? If so, what were the end results? I have never given out my SS number, even in Avast Bank Mode. Been tempted but ------- Please share your thoughts on this.

I have an Amazon CC. Got $50 off a purchase for getting one. Used it to get $50 off a tripod on Amazon.
I have had this CC for over a year with no problems.

That's exactly what I am trying to do. I'm hoping to get a lot of positive responses from UHH members.
Thanks for responding.

Thank you for posting. That makes two for "no problems".

I have an Amazon card and when you use it you get points for the dollars you spend. Spending at certain places gets you more points. You can then use the points to purchase or towards the purchase of merchandise hence the "Your cost could be 0.00" if you have enough points.

I had intended to use some of my points towards the purchase of a new Tamron lens when they went on sale but by the time I got there, they were sold out. I used points to purchase an L-Bracket for my camera and also bought a bag of food for my parrots. Cost me 0 dollars but I'm down 149 points.

It's a great way to get things for free or to lower cost. Just be sure to pay your balance each month....they have a high interest rate.

Also make sure you go to the Amazon site to apply for the card so that you are sure you are really getting an Amazon card

Thank you for the info. You helped clear up a few things for me. I have been on Amazon smile and Amazon.com when noticing this message. It seems like it may be safe enough while in Bank Mode.

FWIW - I opted for an Amazon store card - no issues, purchases get you points with a dollar value to be used on future purchases. Special financing is available on select purchases. The account runs thru Syncronicity Bank.

If I recall, by signing up for it at the time of a purchase I got like $70.00 off.

Have had it for several years now, and use it every now and then.

As others have said, pay the monthly bill on time, and for large purchases, opt for the equal payment deal - if you miss a payment you can get hit with interest charges from the date of purchase, and the interest is quite high.

I believe I bought my current iMac 5k system from Amazon, paid for over 12 months - made minimum payments for 11 months, then paid off the balance before the payment due date i the 12 month. No interest.

Thank you for the info Donald. I think I'll go ahead and get the card. I don't do a lot of ordering but it might be nice to have. If I don't use the card or place an order will I still have interest to pay, just for having the card?

I have the card also and have never been charged interest, even though I use it only once or twice a year (but I am careful to pay the balance on time.) My only unpleasant surprise was using it at ATM to get cash one night. I was buying a lens from an individual for >1K$, and my bank debit card had a limit of $500 per day, so since I knew the PIN, I withdrew the balance on the Amazon card while at the ATM on my way to do the deal, and I was shocked at the surcharge (which showed up as a cash advance when I payed the balance the following month). Lesson learned

I have no idea what the interest rate is on the Amazon card, but, if you are a veteran, look at USAA for a card. I have one but have never used it. I received an "invite" to apply for a card from them and the stated interested rate was 8.99%.
