You'd have shot a lot there too. Fantasy Canyon.

That's some of the most interesting erosion patterns I've ever seen. Very good job.

Other worldly alien structures. Great shots for something few of us will get a chance to see.

Fascinating forms. I would surely have a field day there. Love the photos.

How far is the hike from parking? My 81 year old legs are starting to limit my wandering.

Cany, these are awesome! Not only are the formations wonderful, but the density of colours is great.

The hike is not a hike, its a walk. Granted, if one leaves the established trail, there are times when some extremely minor scrambling may be necessary, but an ascent/descent of 10 or 15 feet shouldn't pose a problem to most. One or two of these images may have been shot less than 100 feet from where I parked (near the vault toilet the BLM has installed). None of these images could be more than 50 or 75 yards away from parking. Overall, it would be easier to measure the place in feet rather than in meters or miles. Fantasy Canyon is a very small area (by most standards).

I think I was extremely fortunate with regard to color. There was no 'sunrise' per se. While there was ambient pre-dawn light, the eastern horizon was blocked by a thick, massive bank of clouds; at that time, there were no overhead clouds to reflect light downward, so the formations were uniformly gray and in shade. Once the cloud on the horizon moved or dissipated, some overhead clouds had moved in from the west and were then reflecting warm light into the 'canyon.' I've accentuated that warmth to some extent in post, but not to a point that anything is 'fake.' By 10am, clouds had cleared and the sun had risen high enough that everything became universally gray and (apart from the forms themselves) essentially uninteresting.

Cany, these photos are beautiful. What a place! Don’t think I would like to be there at night with a moon. The shadows would be terrifying.
