During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this is my simple way of honoring all those brave ladies (and some men) who are/were diagnosed with this insidious disease. May they face and fight the devil and come out the other side victorious. Pray that this scourge and all cancers will someday just be a footnote in history.
These photos were taken 13 years ago. The second photo is of my lovely wife with that same mule. At that time, she was two years past her own diagnosis of breast cancer. Now 13 years later she is, by the grace of God, still going strong.

Agree that breast cancer is an insidious, and very terrible, disease. My best friend's wife had it but did not know it until she developed bone cancer in her spine. She fought valiantly for about seven years and unfortunately lost the war.
Awesome post ... glad your wife has done so well. It is an awful disease, so congrats for her progress. And I liked that mule!!!!! Thanks for sharing.
Love the second photo. They're both cute, but your wife more so.

May 9, 2011; 4' of colon removed. Only by the grace of God, am I here today!
Mules are wonderful animals and they played an important part in history with their physical burdens. Countless numbers of them gave their lives in war efforts on both sides.
My wife is a breast cancer survivor and I am a thyroid cancer survivor as well and we both know how insidious this disease is. My path to wellness was a walk-in-the-park compared to what she endured and I too pray that science will someday end this evil for all mankind and beloved creatures.
