Dark band

I have just started shooting some video with both a Nikon D7100 and D850, as well as trying some time lapse video with a D850. Most every video so far starts with a black horizontal band across the top; it does not matter which camera; it has shown up in the time lapse videos as well. On some videos the black band goes away after a short time; on other videos the band returns intermittently. I would post a sample but am having problems downloading a sample tonight. Any thoughts on what is causing the black band? Thanks.

Without seeing a sample (even a couple of screen shots with and without the band) it's hard to figure out what the black band even looks like. Are you shooting 1080P HD on the D7100 and 2160P 4K on the D850? Both of these images are cropped, the 4K more than the HD. The time lapse are not cropped at all. What are you using to view the videos? Depending on your output resolution and screen size/resolution you may see black borders viewing a video full screen, but they should not disappear.
