Have sent messages to X-rite asking whether CMS will be upgraded to 64 bit, if so when, or is it the next dodo bird? No response!! Any insights in what is going on?

I went to their site and one of the items in their support section addresses this. The bottom line is that the current app will not work under Catalina and they have no plans to update it with 64-bit support. They suggest that you upgrade to one of their pricier devices, which does/will have 64-bit compliance.

Yeah, sure. When I went to a new computer with Windows 10, I couldn't get my color Munki to work, and I went to their website looking for a Win10 driver, but none was there. So I went to the source, and emailed the maker. That was a year ago and I'ms still waiting for a response. So I got a Spyder. I'm not sure the colormunki doesn't work better, but it's better to have one that works at all.

I recently updated my Windows 10 computer, loaded the Color Munki software and it worked perfectly. It might be worth removing the app from your computer and reloading from their website - good luck!.
