Series of some of the Raptors or Birds of Prey here in Central Florida. We are very fortunate having a plethora of Raptors , marsh birds and others.
Raptor is derived from the Latin word "rapere" that means seize, something that they all do with their sharp talons. All images were captured with a Nikon D850 and a Sigma 600 Contemporary except for the Bald Eagle that was taken with the newly acquired Tamron 600G2. All were taken in the wild.
Excellent shots and a great assortment of raptors! Well done.

If I understand it correctly, raptors are one classification of birds that have actually increased in population in the past 50 years, while most other species have been devastated. However, one birder pointed out that 50 years ago was during the height of the DDT disaster that affected the raptors the most, because they are at the top of the food chain. The populations could only increase from there after DDT was banned.
At any rate, they are wonderfully photogenic, and this is a great collection. Were these taken in any specific park or preserve?
