Fantasy Canyon. I'd never heard of the place before fellow Utahn, UHH-er 'jederick' posted a number of images from his visit to Fantasy a few days ago. While I'm ordinarily not much of a 'see a photo and say I have to go there, too' sort of person, his images --and the place, of course-- struck a chord. And since I'd already planned to be in the general vicinity....
First light was muted by a large, dark cloud on the eastern horizon. It was just as well, though; the higher shale bluffs that Fantasy has eroded out of lie to the east, so it would've been shrouded in shadow regardless the sky. By 8am, the dark cloud had moved, the sun had risen a little higher --even if the sub-freezing temperature hadn't--, and the place began to come to life.
This is just an overview. More to follow at some point.
Another wonderful photo, Cany. Can't wait for the follow-ons.
I really like the combination of shadow and light.
The download is a must for me. Beautiful.
Excellent, Jim! Another entry on the "to do" list.

You'd love it, Mike. Really, its just a tiny little place, out there amidst the bazillion oil and gas wells in the Uinta Basin badlands. Gotta be a dozen other places just like it out there in that expanse of antelope country....
Your part of the world is so rich in photographic opportunities! Thanks for sharing.
The darker tones of your image give this a "Halloween" sense. Well done as usual Jim.
That truly is a magical place.
Excellent shot ... looks almost alien. Glad Jederick provided some encouragement ... I too liked the dark tones of that shot. Thanks for sharing.

I, too, am surprised by Fantasy Canyon. How has it stayed so hidden?? Gotta go see it for myself.
