You know if it just had two slots for memory and an actual viewfinder and maybe a little bit more megapixels oh, this might be a good camera for an old lady like me who is having difficulty holding her 5D Mark 4 and its lenses. I wonder how good it actually is. They have an adapter so that you can use Canon lenses too. They also seem to have put a tremendous amount of features towards Cinema. I would be interested in hearing everyone's comments on this camera. Is it a contender? It's only in the rumor stage so not all the specs are given.

It's not good for you because you saw immediately that it has 1 card slot, no EVF and fewer MP than you would like.
Wait until you find out that the top flash sync speed is 1/30 and it has no built in flash if that what you want.

A viewfinder is a must for me, so this doesn’t work.

Sorry to hear that holding your camera is causing you problems .

I am an olden as well and had the same problem with my Nikon D850. Solved it , well sort of , by using a Peak Design Clutch Strap. Makes holding the camera much easier . the camera is supported in the hand and is very quick and easy to adjust .

Ive also got a Z6 and also use this strap on that, can't recommend it enough .

The one slot is no big deal. I have been using cameras with two slots for a while now, and have never missed using the second slot. It won't stop you from taking great pictures. You are unlikely to miss the extra 6 mp in the 5d MkIV, using an adapter for Canon lenses may not work as well as natively supported lenses without the adapter. You can get an LCD View Finder LVF-11 and Base Plate BPL-11 ($292). The Hot Shoe is also an accessory (included). But with both of these attached the camera is bigger and the 1 lb advantage over the Canon is mostly gone. If you plan on using Canon lenses then it just might be heavier than the Canon when you add the weight of the adapter to the viewfinder and base plate.

I would suggest that given that it serves none of your goals, you would be happier with your Canon. The weight advantage of a mirrorless camera becomes a small factor when you add the weight of lenses.

I use Nikon full frame cameras, and several years ago I had a small writst injury, but it was enough to make it difficult to hold my camera and lenses. My solution was to get a Sony RX10M4, which has a total weight of 2.5 lbs and has a non-interchangeable lens with a field of view equivalent to a 24-600mm. I continue to be amazed at the quality of the images (and video) I get with it.

Also, I am not that familiar with the 5D-Mk IV, but on the Mk III you get fast write speeds to the CF card - provided you use a fast CF card - but when you use the second slot for an SD card, the camera slows down considerably - clearing the buffer takes a while when shooting bursts. Is the Mk IV similar?

Check out the new Nikon z50. Assuming you’re an amateur like me 1 slot is no big deal. Yes it’s a crop but crop cameras take great pictures too.

Linda, have you considered the Canon SL2. As you're probably aware, it's a cropped sensor camera but might serve you well. It's certainly significantly smaller and lighter than your 5d4 but will accept your lenses. There's also the Canon R & RP, which with adapter will accept all your lenses, as well.

Have you looked at either the Canon EOS R or EOS RP models? They are not as light as the Sigma model you are looking at and mention, but they should work with your current Canon lenses. I am a Nikon user and not totally familiar with Canon products, but I would think menu options and controls would be somewhat similar between these models, and therefore not be as steep a learning curve as going to a totally new system.

Good luck with whatever you decide and choose to do.

Thank you BebuLamar. I am having a difficult time switching from my Canon 5dM4 and their lenses...the weight is an issue. So I have added a remote and always a tripod...once that doesn't serve me, then I will have to choose something else.

Me too, MrBumps2U! I had purchased the Canon G3X and paid for the viewfinder accessory...a bear to keep track of the pieces (for me anyway...not the most organized person!) and it doesn't fit easily into a small pacsafe waist camera case, but it did work as a backup until I purchased from HH a 5dm2 body!

Thank you Hammer...I looked at the images on Adorama's web site. Unsure as to how it will work given my slight shakiness BUT I ordered a used condition D (almost new) one ... hopefully it will help keep me steadier!

Hi Gene 51! Thank you for your detailed answer. I have been and will be looking hard at Sony if they continue to maintain/improve their quality/feature set in mirrorless cameras. Just can't give up the Canon 5dm4 yet...perhaps it is due to admitting I am getting older - who knows?!

Relative to the card question, the short answer is "I don't know". I only have the card there in case the first one runs out of space and the situation isn't conducive to swap out cards. I very rarely use burst mode as my favorite type of photography is macro...learning landscape now.

Thank you ab7638 for your suggestion. I know they take great pictures! AND I know nothing about them other than the lens' 24mm-105mm changes into something else!

I typically take photos that require heaving cropping...usually because I cannot adjust my position...can't get close enough or people are in the way or . . .! when it comes time, I will look into it more closely...the issue with me is that I want my 5dm4 performance (or better!) without the weight!

Thank you 47greyfox! The Canon SL2 is part of the Rebel family (just looked it up) the very first Canon digital camera I purchased to replace my film Canon EOS 3 was a Rebel 2000. At that time, the form factor and the button markings were too small. I upgraded to the Canon 5D.

I had also been told that the R and RP with adapters would virtually eliminate any weight loss. When it comes time, I am resigned to the fact that my entire system will have to go to BH or Adorama to trade in for a new system...not looking forward to that day!

Thank you Vince68 for your comments and well wishes! It is my lenses that are causing all the problems - their weight! I just traded in my 70-200mm f/2.8 L for a 70-200mm f/4.0 L. Saved some weight there. Also did the same for the 16-35 L. Going to sell the 180mm macro as I have the newer 100mm Macro L and it weighs less.

I am resigned to the learning curve. Whichever system is appreciably lighter with the same or better results (no, I am not a professional just want the best results possible!) at the time, is the one I will purchase.
