I believe it would have more impact if it were sharper through out the whole image!!!

Not sure what you wanted to say with this photograph. For me, the point of view is just a bit strange. Not even sure I would have known what it was but for the title of the piece.
. . . Oops, attached my comment to the wrong quote. Sorry. Didn't pay enough attention!

My comment above was meant for JD750. Sorry for the mix-up.
Beautiful and fascinating.

High impact for sure. The fact that the lower part of the tree is not sharp is a bit of a problem for me. Have you considered a crop? If you crop from the lower right and keep the aspect ratio the same, you will still have a high impact photo; but it will be much sharper throughout. Just a thought.

My first impression was not to put it nicely on the positive side. But when I downloaded the image my impression " improved". The blurred base does not bother me. I think it adds to the overall look. It is all part of the transition. My only suggestion would be to move a bit to the left and have more of a curve in the tree. For me that too would add to the transition.

I felt like I was at the top of a very tall palm tree growing on a very small island.

Very interesting point of view. Bev
Thank you everybody for the replies. I appreciate every one of them.
That image was SOOC @24mm, 1/60, f6.3, ISO 64. I was right on the palm, touching it, and I don't think I could have done much to sharpen the lower part of the image. So I tried to work with it that way.
What I liked about it was the light and the transition from light to shadow, I attempted to capture that with a simple composition and a unique point of view.
