Greetings all! Diving head first into serious photography after "piddling" for years. I am submitting some photos for critique primarily for composition and anything else constructive you think might help. I am tender but I promise I won't get my feelers hurt. This is my first post by the way. Thanks in advance

very nice photos, IMO I think the first shot you could have shot from a different angle maybe move to the right a little so you don't get the construction equipment in the shot and maybe a little more view of the water. The second shot is beautiful looks like a very, very old light house. good job keep shooting and posting

Welcome aboard. Your second image is a prize winner.Perfect in every way.
Welcome to the forum....you are going to learn so much ...this is an amazing place to learn. I really like the 2nd shot.
Agree: "the first shot you could have shot from a different angle maybe move to the right a little so you don't get the construction equipment in the shot and maybe a little more view of the water."
Getting an effective composition presents, arguably, the most important element in a worthy photograph.
Lifting the midtones in the first photograph would bring out more information for a more satisfying visual experience for the viewer.

Welcome! Very nice photos - I would prefer to see the bottom photo not cropped so tightly - it just feels a little crowded on top to me. But I don't know what was there. Just my opinion - and the thing as you do more photography is to listen to many ideas and decide what YOU agree with and then you develop your own style. If you watch photo contests you will learn that there is a very wide spectrum in what people consider good in a photo...
Since both shots have the central focus to the left, especially #2, your watermark is distracting. Try moving it to the lower right.
Your second lighthouse is first-rate; the first one is nice, but consider the suggestion about the construction equipment. I also struggle with unnoticed background distractions, so look carefully like I forget to do sometimes.
Welcome and keep posting .Good shots.
Excellent. Love the colors #2 is my favorite.

~ Cropped to tightly on both. The eye has to hunt and wanders off the image.
WOW! Thanks so much. Appreciate all your comments. I agree on moving to the right for the first one. I was as far as I could go since I was standing on a boardwalk. Interesting comments on the tight crop. I will give that a try. I am trying to fill the frame. Afraid of negative space , I guess.
