Recently I saw a video which had an accessory to a viewfinder. It allowed someone who had a short tripod to look DOWN at the camera which was mounted on a tripod (saved bending over ) and see through the viewfinder . I have tried Google with no success. Does anyone recognize this piece of equipment and know what it is called?
Thanks!

I know Nikon makes one for some of their models. You would probably get a lot more help if you specified what camera you have. Google your camera model followed by "Accessories" or "Viewfinder"
Aha! Makes sense. Thanks.

Think you want an accessory called a right angle finder. Nikon makes one but the are available from other accessory makers. You need to purchase one that will fit your camera.
Thank God and Sony for the SLT Alpha 77V :-)

A company called Hoodman used to market a right angle viewing attachment. Not sure if they still have it. Its very handy.

Final, just saw your post. I have one I bought used 35 years ago to use on one of my Pentax spotmatics. It is a Pentax brand and has also fit all of my Canons, after I pull of the eyecup piece. That leads me to believe that they may be somewhat universal but it does not fit either of my two old nikon film Cameras( they are diff from each other). Mine rotates and can be used at any angle. Very handy, I use it all the time. Get one
I have the Hoodman right angle viewer. What I like about it is you can flip a switch and it will magnify what you have in the viewfinder by 2.5X. It really helps when you are doing macro shots and the angle helps along with that. you can also adjust the focus on the Hoodman lens to be in focus with your prescription. It has many adaptors to fit on many camera eye pieces, both Canon and Nikon. And it doesn't feel like junk either. I just used it today.
I Just found this on Amazon.com. This may be what you are looking for:

Just be sure you specify your camera model. Nikon has both square and round viewfinders.
Nice thing about the Hoodman is it came with 5 interchangeable viewfinders, 2 for Nikon, one square and one round. Very nice set from Hoodman and it feels very nice and has lasted for years.

Look up "Aputure" they have a "Gigtube" which is a remote viewfinder. Just a different idea! Note the spelling of Aputure.
