Baby bears. Momma bears. Black bears. Cinnamon bears. Grizzly bears. I found all of them in Grand Tetons, and in abundance.

And a (somewhat) funny story on one occasion. We were following a sow and cub up and down the road for over an hour while they were totally focused on feeding on the ripe Black Hawthorne berries. Photographers self-policing themselves and keeping their distance across the road and not bothering the bears, bears not bothering the people. Eventually a park ranger drives up with lights flashing and car horn honking. Drives right up close to the bears. Jumps out with bull horn and tries to run the bears off. Bears totally ignore her and keep on feeding. She lays on car horn and bull horn and yells at them. What does the sow bear do? Walks over to the front of car next to the ranger and stands there like she’s asking “Okay, I’m paying attention now, what do you want?”. Ranger eventually gets them to cross road and go into the meadow as the light is getting too low to continue shooting.

And I stumbled across Grizzly #610 and her two cubs. An area that had been productive in the past had not produced any animals this year. I had a hunch and went back one last time on my last day.

Grizzly #610. They were always in the tall vegetation where short glimpses were all we saw of them for over an hour until they moved off.

Great captures, good series. Be careful though, more people killed by Black Bears every year and Black Bears unlike Grizzles usually eat their kills.

Great set. I love bears. Fortunately, all my experiences have been good! Too bad the ranger interfered. But in her defense, with so many tourists being stupid today, she probably was worried for the bears' safety!
