I have 91 photographs taken in RAW from the 227 in total, and processed, where necessary, to show you.

My request is how to do it?

Do you want 10 or so every other day, or thereabouts, or the lot in one go, or not at all!

Your thoughts welcomed!

That's helpful. I will start to show them from Monday onwards.

Be sure to post them in the Photo Gallery and/or the Landscape Photography sections, not Main Photography Discussion.

I can tell you sight unseen you probably don't have 91 total images that need to be shared. You're only as good as the weakest image you choose to share.

Try being more aggressive in culling. I'm not questioning that you 91 overall keepers from the trip. Rather, I'm suggesting you let things sit for a day or two and come back with fresh eyes with your editor hat and critically ask for every single image: does this image contribute to a tight story that shows your best image of the subject Y / N? When you have options of the same subject, even from multiple days and / or locations, what is the best one to present? When you've cut the group down to maybe half or less, then look at logical groupings, maybe by common subjects rather than day / time sequence of the trip. Assuming different dates and locations, consider groups that are 4 to 8 (max) with maybe 5 to 6 being an ideal sharing amount for this site. Two 5-image posts on different dates will likely have more impact than the same 10-images in a single post.

For success in the way the digest works, post just a single new entry every other day, at most, to the Photo Gallery. And then, make that day's post before 8am Eastern.

Hope this is the help you're looking for in your decision making.

There are 50 to 100 new topics posted to Photo Gallery every day. Click on "all sections" at the bottom of this page to discover the smaller, volunteer-moderated sections - such as Landscape or For Your Consideration or Close-Up, where your photos may generate conversation rather than just a quick glance.

Most of the sections have guidelines posted as a sticky topic on their "home page." For example, Landscape Forum encourages feedback (critique).

edit: as I was typing, Chg_Canon gave you excellent advice about being more discriminating with what you choose to share. The For Your Consideration section will be a good place to ask for advice and opinions for shots that might not fit Landscape. When grouping, you might also think which could be shared as a "storytelling" series or which best represent a "sense of place."

Well I think I have been very aggressive in my culling! 270 down to 91!

I will be posting 5 every other day from Monday onwards. But can't make it prior to 8am Eastern; we are on Oregon time.

Linda's point is well taken. Due mainly to back problems I have not been out shooting in quite awhile. When I did and posted in the Photo Gallery, I noticed that posts did not stay on page one for very long, due to the very fact that Linda has pointed out...that here are so many posts to that Gallery. Some of the more outstanding photographers would garner more comments and likes, however, which would keep them seen for a longer period of time. I started posting in the Critique Section for awhile. I understand that For Your Consideration is also a good gallery to post in as well. Utah is an amazing state. There is so much to see. It's a photographer's paradise. Let us know where you post your photos. I look forward to seeing them.

I just returned from a two week trip to Utah with 3000 photos. I probably have about 50 that are interesting, 10 that are pretty good and 3 that are portfolio worthy. I really enjoyed taking every one of them!

I agree that is about my hit ratio as well. Ansel Adams said 12 photos in a year was a pretty good crop and who knows how many images he took in a year in his most productive years -- probably thousands I'd guess.

Yea, both Paul and Linda gave some excellent advice. The part of "people will judge you by your weakest image" resonates with me. I don't post stuff just to post. If I don't think that the image is as good as Cany's, I don't post. I already know what to do, it's just doing it that is so difficult. And I don't want to bore the members here with crap.

Absolutely. We really do not care about every photo you took on a trip. Show 3-5 of them and be done with it. Show the rest to a captive audience like your family that cannot run away and will feel obliged to ooh and ahh for each photo.
