I’ve been a member for a few years now.
Never needed it for repairs, but they let me demo a Nikon D500 for a week.

I am a passionate hobbist. I am not a NPS member. My experience with Nikon is they build good quality products and Nikon stands behind their product. I can only think that is also true in multiples for NPS subscribers.

NPS is great. You get priority and a discount on repairs, priority on newly released items, a warm fuzzy feeling when you deal with them. I've participated in the program for 6 yrs and have had no negative experiences.

I agree Just saved 20% on a big repair on a 70-200 even with a part hold it took less than a week to be returned with multiple parts replaced

I only have experience with Canon Professional Service, they're awesome. I suspect that Nikon's would be about the same!

Got my 500 5.6 from them. Also, I get priority on repairs and a discount on all work done. Plus I get first in line for new products. You must qualify but it is not all that hard.

Not sure what you mean when you say “...it is not all that hard” to qualify. My understanding is that you have to derive all of your income from photography or photography related business and of course have a certain amount invested in Nikon gear. I don’t see how a hobbyist or even a part time working photog can qualify.

The qualifications are listed on line. You should look it up and decide.

When I was an active pro (photojournalist) I was a NPS member and it saved my butt a number of times with its priority service. But as others have mentioned you need to qualify by owning some of their pro bodies and glass as well as having a fellow pro recommend you. Since retiring from full time assignments I’ve switched to Fuji and wish it had a similar program. (Last time I asked Fuji they said they’re working on it.)

I have been a member for about a year now but did not know you got priority on newly released items. I have been waiting for months for the new 85mm S lens from B&H. I guess I should have ordered it direct from Nikon and expedited. Now I am going on a trip without it. Argh!

Do not ask Nikon. Nikon Professional Services has it's own contact number. Call them and ask about the lens. I did that with the 500 5.6, since I had one on order from B&H, NPS sent the lens to B&H and then B&H sent it to me.

NPS is meant for working pros only. That's why getting approved takes time, gear, and proof. It is not meant for others.
