I saw an Anthony Morganti YouTube vid on Luminar & like the AI driven ability to modify filter Amount, Softness, Boost. Lightroom has it, but only for Brush, Radial, & Gradient filters (that I know of).
l also like feature that enables hilighting / masking to enable quick removal of unwanted objects. Sky Enhancing also seems nice.
Other features are similar to other AI apps like Sharpen & Denoise which Topaz has; & then there are features like Structure & Detail Enhancer. I've no idea what the differenoe is - or why you'd use one over the other & if they're like Lr's Texture / Contrast.
For Luminar4 Skylum is touting Skin Enhancer (color, blemishes) & Portrait Enhancer (faster than Lr/Ps eye, tooth, lip, etc retouching) according to Morganti's YouTube vid Luminar4 seems to soften faces w/out blurring details (the video shows great detail/sharpness where softening was done).
I'm half sold - but I'm concerned abt ease of use for interface & other features that Lr has but L4 doesn't esp. when it comes to Cataloging & comparative speed for importing & preview rendering; or anything else UHH people have seen.
Thanks in advance,
Eli
I have Luminar 3 and have fallen in love with it. I like the cataloging system of Lightroom and a couple other things, so I’ve decided on what’s the best of both worlds for me. I import into LR, do a few things there, and then go to Luminar as a plug-in. I eagerly await Luminar 4.
Get the trial version of Luminar 4 when it's released this fall and see if you like it. I presently use Luminar 3 and have pre-purchased 4. Although it can work as a standalone app, I use it as a Photoshop plugin and find it well worth the money.
jaymatt & yssirk123, thanks for the input.

If you use Luminar as a standalone you will have to export your edits to another program to print what you see on the screen. If you are going to use it as a plugin you will not have to worry about it.I love it except for that inconvenience. I'm not a professional but a very anal amateur. lol

I've been using Luminar since they were Macphun. I did have some issues with L3 along with others but eventually it was sorted. Recently upgrade to L4 and it's fantastic. The sky replacement is phenomenal as are the other tools including a number of "AI" ones. I just bought the upgrade to L4 knowing that they offered a money back guarantee. They also do a free trial and you should definitely give it a go. I actually prefer the L4 UI buts that just a personal thing.
