Here is a short video about a Clyde Butcher Swamp Walk. His Fall Festival is Oct 26 and 27 at his studio on the Tamiami Trail in the Big Cypress Swamp.

Several years when driving from the west coast of southern Florida to the east I came across Clyde Butcher's gallery on the Tamiami Trail and upon a whim stopped, not having heard of Clyde before. His work exhibited in the gallery is incredible. some of the greatest landscape photography I've ever seen. If anyone has the opportunity to go there do so - you will have a great experience.

Where is the gallery? Just love the bayous. Hoping to get back there again this year for some fall color.
Thanks!

Three of them. Venice, Sarasota, and on the Tamiami Trail, right by the Everglades. Check his website - and his photos. I have purchased a few of them.

He is sometimes called "The Ansel Adams of the Everglades". You'll see why.

(And in Venice, if you're a foodie, try Sharkies on the Pier)

Although I am only 22 miles away from his gallery I seldom go by. Sometimes I do during the winter months when I explore the possibilities along the "Loop Road" just slightly West from where the gallery is located. The walk in the swamps is something I have never done but from what I know they are interesting and educational walks with plenty of photographic opportunities.

Mr. Butcher is now using a digital camera. He had a stroke a couple of years ago and rehabilitation has taken long. His favorite cameras have been large format like 8x10 and 11x14. His studio used to be behind the gallery, I do not know where it is located now. He has a nice gallery in Venice, Florida West Coast. Yes, he is locally and internationally known as the "Ansel Adams of the Everglades."
