My last saturday's assignment for the newspaper. Ended up with 6 in color print in Sunday's paper. I battled rain, overcast skies and the sun popping out intermittently. Close to 5 thousand participants in the all day race broke up by school classifications.
iconic series Paul... congrats on your publication... great to know there are commercial shooters getting the job done and sharing on UHH... Totally love the fabulous color harmonies latent within... especially on the early morning captures with strong side illumination...
Your 70-200mm f/2.8 "L" glass is to be cherished for events like this... and a compelling reason why lots of Nikon shooters move over to Canon who's pro series lens are legendary...
btw, I hear you about the shooting an event in the rain, and or dramatically changing illumination... so many folks think shooting sports is a "cake walk" however when you are on assignment there are no excuses...
I've been to Lubbock, Texas before... very friendly town... I remember amazing sunsets this time of year...
Thank you again for sharing Paul... I really enjoy your classic photojournalist style...
Looking forward to more of your sports renderings...

Excellent shoot PaulR01. These are great comps. That is big meet close to 5,000. I have a couple of cross county meets on my calendar and hope to get to at least one of them this year. Always wanted to shoot one but never got to one. Keep posting love it. Thanks
Tom

Paul these shots are so very good. The lighting, cropping, sharpness, use of a wide open aperture. Doesn't get any better. You told a story and that's what it's all about. Again high praises.

Tomorrow I will shoot a freshman football game.
These are great. You are using some low angles that I have not thought of. I am shooting Saturday and look forward to giving this a try.
Nice story telling
Great captures. Thanks for sharing. Paul

Thanks for the poetic words Thomas. Sometime assignment and deadlines can be quite challenging.
I hope you were in Lubbock well in the past. Recent Lubbock with the border problem isn't the same. We are having big city issues. The days of being a quaint little city are long gone.
So sorry to hear that Lubbock is having "social" issues... I visited in the late seventies and it was indeed a very quaint and delightful city... hoping that it reverts back to same again soon... And I truly enjoyed visiting your commercial web site... that "Bull Rider" image on the splash page is absolutely breathtaking!
