My Epson Stylus Photo R1900 sort of worked with my ageing iMac, but has not been reliable, as it gets clogged easily, etc. It is currently off-line, taking up space.
Need suggestion for a good printer, please, that will allow good, long-lasting prints.

I too had trouble with an Epson printer clogging. I replaced it with a Canon printer, use only Canon ink cartridges, and have not had any trouble with it.

The best "deal" is the Canon Pixma Pro-100. Price after current rebate is about $135. But, it comes with nearly that much worth of ink.

Oh my!! I will become an outcast... yes I have a great Canon Inkjet, but also a Xerox color laser printer using Hammermill Gloss paper [wow low cost] the end result is an excellent photo which once mounted behind glass is hard to tell it is not the Inkjet Quality. [Humm, I should test that with a side by side]
The Canon TS9000 was dumped when the TS9100 came out... improved?? or just next year model with different chrome trim and tail lights. I think the same only different. My literature searching said that Canon is less pron to plugging. Prior to this Canon, I was an Epson guy.

Ditto on the Canon Pro100 for a 13 inch printer. If you're looking for larger than that, check out the Canon 17 inch Pro1000. Both are pretty much bulletproof, have beautiful color and will not clog.

Another vote for the Canon Pro 100. There are times that I haven’t used it for weeks and itnever clogged. I buy ink directly from Canon and there’s usually a free paper deal.

I got my Canon 100 FREE when I bought my 5D MK III. Outside of its large footprint (I now do not have a desk in my office!) and the price of ink, I really like it. The only time it has failed me is when I tried to use off-brand ink. I learned my lesson REALLY quick on that. I know some do, but my experience was really bad. It has never clogged on me, even after sitting for weeks at a time. I think it's the best bang for the buck.

I have a Canon pro 1000 from a Epson 1400. I picked the 1000 because I was at a show and Canon was doing prints at the show. The Canon rep was using the Pro 1000. If that is what they picked out of the Canon line I was going to take that as my pick.. Works great, expensive but it makes me think twice on what pictures I print. In also found friends with the Canon 100 and do great. I believe in not using ink on the after market.

I started with an Epson long ago but went to Canon on a package deal years ago and have never had any problems with any of several Canon printers I have and still own. Never a jam, never a clog. I always use OEM inks.

Go with a canon 100 and been using lg ink for 13 years on my canon 9000 with no problem's stick with lg ink

Yes, I use aftermarket ink and no problems for my canon 9000. The Xerox Laser same way, just finished the original and replaced the carts with $35 full set of aftermarket. Working well.

Have a Canon Pro-10 for the last 6 years and it has been great. I only use Canon inks [$$$] but it has never clogged.

My Canon Pixma 100 is great for travel but for long-lasting prints at home I use an Epson with pigment-based inks.
