Hello! I’m looking for advice on an easy to program intervalometer. I’ve searched and read the previous questions similar to mine, but they’re all years ago or irrelevant to my specific question.

I have a Canon EOS R, and I just got the PIXEL shutter release/intervalometer and it’s like doing algebra to program it. I used it once and figured it out, but I’m looking for something more user friendly.

Does anyone have an intervalometer they love that’s east to use?

I have a device called the Pluto Trigger. It does the function of intervalometer and so very much more. It is controlled from an app on your smartphone, quite compact and very easy to use. Here is a link so you can check it out

I don't know the answer to your question, but my RP has a built in interval timer, might your R also, since the two are so similar?

Edit: a little googling tells me the R doesn't have it. Some apps were mentioned as a workaround but I'm sure you've seen those.

I agree on the pluto trigger. It has many options including lightening trigger. Here is my link if you buy one. It will help me a little.

I bought several generic intervalometers, and the directions might as well have been written in a foreign language. I spent some time with them and eventually wrote out my own directions. I would suggest sitting down in a quiet room and figuring it out one step at a time and then writing down each step.

Try this -

You probably have the directions, but here they are. Take it one step at a time.

Thank you! I saw that and had it in my “cart” to check out and read one review that scared me out of buying it. Sad but true. Someone said they plugged it into their camera and their camera never worked again. If I didn’t have a trip coming up I would have bought it anyway but I didn’t want to be camera-less with not enough notice to fix it! I really want it though, I’m especially intrigued by the lightening feature!!

Thank you!! This is very helpful! I had looked at a few YouTube’s on how to use it and I was left even more confused after watching them. I hadn’t seen this blog. Very helpful, thank you!

Also, and total sidebar - but I love that little dog in your photo. I’m a huge Maltese lover and that’s what it looks like yours may be ☺️

First, do not be afraid of the Pluto Trigger. I have been using it for several years without incident and it has performed perfectly as advertised. I use it on a Canon 5DM3.

Now for my absolutely favorite topic, my little friend Freddie. Yes, he is a Maltese and the best pup I have ever owned and I have had some really good ones over the years. He is not quite 6 mos old and already has several tricks he has learned. Here is a link to a post I made a few days back to a portrait I took of him about two weeks ago http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-610997-1.html

I had the Flashpoint Wave Commander now for about seven years and it has served me well, not once a missed shot and I use it daily! The Intervalometer not so much (although sometimes and it does work well) but the remote (RC/320ft.) The manual is clear and everything is well explained in text, as well as illustrations. When I bought it, it was under 20 bucks (its quite more these days I think). It was one of the best 20 bucks that I've ever spend!

I recommend a CamRanger. Not inexpensive at $300 new or $200 like new on EBAY. But it allows full control of camera settings on my Canon’s remotely from a phone, iPad or computer. The wireless works good over distances too. Check it out...

Just about every camera mfg. copys what other mfg's have. With in the last 15 years, I'm guessing Canon has copied Pentax.

The intervelometer built right into the cameraa's menu is about the easiest I can think of.
