I would have liked the top knot intact for a portrait - for an eye, zoom in even more!

I agree with UJ, if I had it over I would include the top of the head.
I wouldn't zoom in any closer though, as it was to be a portrait and not a photo of the eye.

I think that the subject image is great, but when zoomed in that close it really needs to be "tack sharp"

Most images at 200% aren't going to be much sharper.
