Tamron Tap-In Console for Nikon

just got one, installed software on PC; when I try to open the app, it says "Tap-In Console is not properly connected;" Customer service closed on weekends; can anyone give me a clue ? I am trying to update my 18-400 lens

I do not have a Tamron ... but do have a Sigma.

My Sigma works by placing the console on the lens, plugging in USB cable to console and computer, then starting the software.

Tamron works the same way, when it is working; it does start the firmware update for the console itself, but gets stuck halfway, and then gives me an error message

I would shut down computer.

If does not work after fresh bootup, contact Tamron.

... or do a Google search on problem, may find solution.

I am only querying UHH because Tamron is closed for the weekend; computer has been re-booted, etc.; man at Cardinal Camera has been trying to help; but all the usual stuff to try is obvious

See if you can exchange for another unit.

there was no problem to do that; I said I would wait until I could reach Tamron on Mon, because I would also like to know what is causing the problem. Having said that, Cardinal Camera ALREADY REFUNDED me the cost of the item without requiring, or even asking, I to send it back. WOW

It may be the order of software installation. You may have to install the software first before pluggin the unit. Or your unit had problem during firmware update and generally it's very difficult to recover from failed firmware update. That is why I think you might need another unit.

When I connected my dock for the first time, it updated its firmware. If yours tried to do an update which was somehow interruped it's possible yours "bricked" itself. Get your replacement and start over.

If you have a Nikon that does auto fine focus adjust then its all simple. Point at target and do the auto routine and note down the figure from the camera display. repeat for all the focal lengths and distances. enter your figures into the tap and the job is done. If you don't have a D850/D500 /D7500 then you in for a long frustrating time

Did you attach your lens to the console? I get that message also, if I open the app, but don't have a lens attached.

First, I tried to update my tamron 200-500; it froze at 50%

Then, the store said I should update the console first ( actually, second now )

The updating froze at 50%
