Normally I use a Nikkor 105mm F4 Manual focus lens for macro, I bought it 2nd hand in the 1970s.

I have the 300mm F4 lens and tried using it instead. These are the images with the 300mm. Since I am using a 300mm can I call them 'Macro' images. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you can call them macro images. I also have a 105 f4 Macro lens from the 70's but I see myself using a tele more often than not for macro shots.
By the way, very good images.

Excellent series! I use a an old 75-300, on my D 7200, 450 equivalent for the same type of subject matter. Much easier on the body, and less likely to spook the critters.

What amount of extension were you using? Did you use more than one extension? JerryJ

Any image that is life size or larger on the sensor is considered a macro. That's where the term 1:1 or greater comes from.

I agree, the lens has a 4 ft min focus. So I'm not disturbing the subjects.
Thanks for commenting

THAT is interesting - mine is 8 feet minimum at the top end. I have the old Nikkor 300 4.5 will have to check to see what it will do. Edit: No Joy - 13' will give it a try anyway.
