Photoshop Elements 2018

What is going on here?

I have used Elements 2018 since I purchased it in early 2018 when my old desktop died and took CS6 with it and I couldn't find the CS6 software (lost in a cross country move).

I was scanning and PPing some family photos and closed the session. Later (less than an hour) I wanted to continue that activity but when I tried to open an image file with Elements 2018 I get a window requiring me to sign in (the first box below). Never had that happen before.

So I clicked on the Sign In button and the next dialog box popped up.

I don't want to have to repurchase something I've already paid for by clicking on the License this Software button.

Has anyone else had this problem? There was a Windows 10 update auto-installed a few days ago. But I had used the Elements 2018 several times since that update with no issues.

Your probably have the software serial number from when you purchased the software? Did you register that number on the Adobe site? As long as you have the S/N, visit the Adobe site and start a 'support chat'. A technician from Adobe will be best able to help you.

Try clicking on License This Software. You'll probably get a dialogue that allows you to enter the serial number.

I just completed that process.

Does Adobe require re-authorization of purchased software periodically? The agent didn't answer that question directly - re-authorization is required if the product is installed on a different device was the response. I haven't change devices.

Anyway, I have Elements re-authorized and running.

My son has the same software. I don't know what happened in your case, but I want to mention that you are allowed to install it on 2 devices. You can deactivate the software on a device to make room for another, like if you buy a new computer and discard the old one.. You can do it from within the software

I don't know, not having that exact software. From a technical standpoint, and possibly beyond the technician's knowledge, is how / where the software "knows" the license is valid. I know I've seen such a pop-up at least once in my memory of using various Adobe products. If stored someplace on the computer, the location could have been corrupted or removed where the license status is maintained. If stored remotely, it would have been corrupted or removed at that location (or otherwise unavailable). Let your concern grow only if / when it happens again.

I have had that happen to me occasionally with Adobe products. I enter the number, and life continues.

Take a look here, but be cautious. Make an offer.

That PS CS6 states it is a stand alone version and cannot be registered. I think that would negate any help from Adobe for any problems that may arise and I would doubt the updates would be applicable even though it says updates can be downloaded.
