canon raw verses c-raw

It appears that canon has developed a new c-raw format which is 40% smaller then raw with no drawbacks has anyone tried it and if so what is your opinion?

There was a topic here not too long ago. It is not lossless, but I can't see a difference to my eye. Still i stick with the regular lossless one which is also compressed but not as much.

Which cameras support / provide CR3? That be an indication of who could provide a usage-based opinion.

My EOS R has RAW and C-RAW and quite frankly, except for the file size, I can't tell the difference.

I had trouble finding out that it is lossy. Finally I chatted with Canon support and they confirmed that it is lossy and linked me to a Canon Europe article, I'll have to see if I can find it, or our previous discussion of it which was several pages long.

Wouldn't it be nice if they used the same format for all their future cameras, rather than waiting for Adobe and others to catch up with processing? I can understand having improvements along the way, but not with every new camera. Of course, I'm not a camera engineer.

I have the EOS R and have never used RAW simply due to file size. I will try the c-raw today! Glad to know it’s not as big of a file.
